Since September 2008, Newbury Academy has been a virtual school, with all classes conducted online. It still serves the Dumont, NJ area, but is now also available for the Brick, NJ area, as there are teachers in both areas available for the weekly home visits. See "About Us" for more information. The Newbury Academy difference
Newbury Academy offers REAL TIME classes on a full time schedule. That means students sign in online with their teachers every school day at 9am, and sign off at 3pm (with a break for lunch, of course!). The courses they take are prescribed by the New Jersey State Core Curriculum, so Newbury Academy students take the same courses and spend the same amount of time on them as any other student in the state. The only difference is it's all done from the student's own home. Teachers make weekly visits to the students' homes as arranged by the parents, students and school.
For students without district support, our tuition is less than a third of other private schools in northern New Jersey. See "Admissions" for more information.
100% of our graduates have gone on to attend the college of their choice! In 2009 we congratulated our graduates as well as our alumnae who graduated from Rutgers University and in September started on their masters in law and business.
